Welcome to AP Calculus BC for the 2017-2018 school year! For those of you that do not know me, here are a few details: My high school diploma is from Manchester-by-the Sea, MA. I earned my B.S. at M.I.T. in the field of Cognitive Science (Psychology.) My Masters in Education is from Stanford, and I am a National Board Certified teacher. This is my thirtieth year teaching. I have a son who went to UC Berkeley and a daughter at UCLA. My wife is a former English teacher who tutors. In addition to this class, I teach AP Psychology this year.

Your grades will be based on:
Classwork and homework--15% Tests and other assessments-- 60% Final Exam—25%
Class participation and homework will be judged only on effort. Homework will be assigned each time the class meets. It is expected that assignments are begun the day they are assigned so that the next day's office hours can be used for questions. This gives another night to successfully complete the assignments. Students whose prerequisite skills need strengthening are expected to attend office hours and may be required to attend by the teacher.
Absent students are expected to get the homework assignment and have it completed for the next class. No points will be given for late homework unless special arrangements are made.
Cheating on tests, including copying another student's answers or allowing a student to copy yours will result in a zero for that test with no chance at a make-up.
If you are absent on a test day, you must make up the test the next time you are in my class. For an extended absence, special arrangements will be made.
In May the AP test is given. The test for BC calculus includes a subscore for AB calculus.
I look forward to helping you master the concepts of college calculus.
